Conversion and optimization

Conversion rate optimization or CRO is the process to increase visitors to a website. Those who will take an action – they fill forms and become customers. CRO studies how user searched the website, takes action and what stops it from reaching the goals.
A conversion means that the visitor to the site reaches his goal. The goal can be to make a purchase which is regarded as a macro conversion, request quote, service subscription; sign up for emails /newsletters is a micro conversion, maybe create an account or add a product to the cart.
Conversion rate is calculated by the number of times a user reaches a goal it is divided by the number of sessions. When you sell divide the conversions with number of users. Conversion rate optimization will happen after a visit reached the site. The conversion optimization for SEO is different.

Each time a user converts when they visit the site. A user can purchase every time he visits. If a visitor has visited the site three times then the site had three opportunities to convert.
If the user becomes a member then he can visit multiple times. So rather than looking for sessions the conversion should be looked at.
